VacuBond® passes tests according to railway standard

For a project, we optically bonded a 10.4" TFT display to the rear of a milled bezel that features a glued touch screen on its front. This module has passed the shock and vibration test at the customer's premises in accordance with the DIN EN 61373 Category 1, Class B standard and complies with the requirements of the IEC 60571 standard for electronic equipment used on rolling stock. VacuBond® Optical Bonding increases the robustness of TFT displays by connecting the display and a touchscreen via a high quality optical gel. The gel counteracts vibration resonances and dissipates shock energy to the sides. But that's not the only advantage:

In addition to higher resiliance, optically bonded units also provide improved optical quality because the gel layer does not break the incident light as much as an air layer. As a consequence the display offers better readability and higher contrast without increased power consumption.

We optically bond touch screens and / or protective glasses to all displays up to a size of 32". For explosion-proof areas we use VacuBond to close the air spaces inside the display in order to minimize the risk of sparks.

VacuBond® units have passed various certifications from our customers. Please refer to the the flyer at the bottom of this page for more details.
